THE RETURN EXPLAINED

Everybody in the world has a natal birth chart which is the snap shot of the universe at the date, time and location of your birth.

Birth charts are Geocentric which means the Earth is symbolically placed at the centre of the universe. As we know from Astronomy the Sun is actually at the centre of the universe, but in Astrology we are analysing the universe from Earth’s perspective which is why the Earth (or essentially you) is at the centre of the birth chart.

Due to looking at the universe Geocentrically, in Astrology we refer to 10 planets - Sun, Moon, Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune and Pluto because these are the planets we can see from our own view point. The birth chart shows us which constellation these planets are in line with i.e. the star signs Aries, Taurus, Gemini, Cancer, Leo, Virgo, Libra, Scorpio, Sagittarius, Capricorn, Aquarius and Pisces.

However the Birth Chart is just a snap shot of your moment of birth. Since then the planets have kept moving at their own rates and paces and are still moving right now orbiting the Sun. Here is how long it takes each planet to do one full orbit of the universe and your birth chart…

Paces of the Planets

Sun - It takes the Sun 1 year to move around our chart which is the length of time it actually takes the Earth to go around the Sun.

Moon - As you know the Moon is actually orbiting around us and takes 28 days to do a full circle of the Earth and our birth chart.

All other planets do a full orbit of our birth charts in these lengths of times:

Mercury - 1 year

Venus - 12-14 months

Mars - 2 years

Jupiter - 12 Years

Saturn - 29 Years

Uranus - 84 Years

Neptune - 165 Years

Pluto - 248 Years

So what does this mean Astrologically?

Every time a planet moves around and returns to the same position it is in your natal chart, we read this as significant.

The Solar Return happens every year which goes hand in hand with your Birthday. Why celebrate New Year with everyone else on the 1st of January? Your Solar Return is your very own New Year and the next year of YOUR life. It should be celebrated! Discover where the energies are on your side and what area’s of life will be greatly effected. To learn more about Solar Returns in particular, click here for my The Solar Return blog.

The Lunar Return happens every month. It happens so quickly you may not even notice it. Depending on where your Moon is by sign and house, you should try do something to ‘feed’ your Moon that day. Do something which would make your natal moon happy. For example if you are a Moon in Taurus, treat yourself and buy something you’ve been wanting for a while, go to a nice restaurant for a fancy meal or take a hike through nature and feel at one with the earth.

The Mercury Return (not the same as Mercury Retrograde - another blog coming up on retrogrades soon) gives us an opportunity to re-address choices we have made. It allows to rethink and reflect on what we’ve done in the previous period and decide how we want to move forwards. Does it fall in-line with who we are and our life mission? We communicate this to ourselves!

The Venus Return is all about values and love. As Venus is returning often past lovers can crop up. Or we go through in our hearts what we want from love and relationships reflecting back on where things may have not felt right before. We become realigned with our core values and move forwards projecting out our true desires for love and how we want to be treated.

The Mars Return is a huge kick up the bum we sometimes all need. It reminds us of what we are truly passionate about and what fires us up. We need Mars to feel life and excitement. If you have Mars in Gemini, you make find a new inspiration to write, blog and tell your story and perception of the world. You will feel a passion to give that Mars what it needs to be activated.

The Jupiter Return is a massive burst of fortune, good luck and positive energy. During this time you can feel high on life and like everything is just going your way. But it can also mean a shift or realignment with your higher thinking and philosophy. Giving you the time to challenge, what do I believe in and why? Do I still believe in this? Do I want to take this forward into the next 12 years of my life? It can be very awakening.

The Saturn Return is the one everyone dreads. Poor Saturn has a pretty bad reputation and fear associated with it. When you’re 29 you can have a little wobble and people normally think it’s just because you’re about to turn 30 and the dread of a new decade. What have I actually accomplished in my life so far? What am I doing with my life? In fact it’s your Saturn Return making you feel like this. This Return is there to wake you up, see reality and gives you a chance to get a grip on life.

The last 3 planets are Uranus, Neptune and Pluto and these are known to Astrologers as outer planets. They do not effect us inwardly or socially. They are generational. They speak of time periods and eras. Some of us will experience a Uranus return but it’s speaking more of the generation, rather than you personally. In this day and age we will never experience a Neptune or Pluto Return, but they will speak of the impact of your generation when it reaches it’s Return.

To find out when any of your Returns are, how you experienced previous ones or how you may encounter the next ones book a 1 hour or 3o minutes Astrology reading with me and we can explore them.

I wish you all many Happy Returns!
